Well, we have some how made it through our first week already. I can't believe Carson is already a week old! I guess I have a lot to catch up on...
Last Monday night, A and I decided that the 24 hour of contractions were enough, and even though they weren't completely consistent, they were strong enough I needed to go get checked out. After my wonderful friend came over at 10:00 to sit with Jacob, we left for the hospital, not knowing if they would keep me or send me home. But when we got there, I was dilated to 4 cm (from 0 on the previous doctor's appointment) and they said I was going to stay. So, after 11:00, we called my parents and they came to take over Jacob duty. I got an epidural early so that I could get some sleep and it worked, at least for a while. A and I both napped until about 7:00 AM and thought everything was going smoothly, but then the next few hours got a little tougher. For some reason, the epidural wore off - 4 times over the next 4 hours! Needless to say, I was really glad when Carson finally arrived at 11:07!
Carson was 7 lbs 13 oz, 20 3/4 inches and perfectly healthy! He looks a little like Jacob did, but has much lighter hair. He is eating well and gaining weight every day. He sleeps really well so far. We have been getting up with him only once during the night, and he goes right back to sleep. I really hope that lasts!
We came home on Wednesday and Carson seemed to be comfortable right away. Jacob was so happy to see "Baby" came to his house. He loves him and wants to watch everything he does and help with everything. He wants to help change his diaper and feed him. Most of all, he loves to give him hugs and kisses. I'm so glad Jacob has adjusted so well so far!
My mom stayed for Tuesday until Sunday, and my dad was here a few days too. A's family came to visit over the weekend and got to meet Carson and spend some time with Jacob. Jacob was completely thrilled that everyone was here and was quite disappointed when he woke up from his Sunday afternoon nap to an empty house. He is still asking for everyone two days later. I wish he could see his family more often; he loves everyone so much! Jacob also had two birthday parties to attend this past weekend, so he was really busy with all his friends and all his family. I'm pretty sure he felt like one very loved little boy!
Monday was my first day one my own with both boys. I survived somehow, without too many problems. We even went to story time at the library this morning! I do have to say that getting out of the house with both of them is a whole new challenge, but it was worth it to see how much fun Jacob had getting to go to one of his favorite activities.
And now, for some pictures!
Happy Tuesday!
