4 months!

Jacob is 4 months old already?! It's hard to believe.  He's growing so fast now and seems to be learning new things every day.  He is easily rolling from his belly to his back and still rolling from his back to his belly only in his sleep.  He tries so hard while he's awake, but hasn't quite mastered it yet.  He's also starting to attempt sitting up on his own,  but that's still a little shaky too.  He's just outgrown his 0-3 month clothes and is enjoying his new 3-6 month spring outfits.  He loves to be outside and is getting a little better at riding in the car without always falling asleep.  He's still a creature of habit and sticks to his schedule pretty well.  We've joined a play group and he loves the other babies!  I think he will be quite an outgoing little guy.  His 4 month check up is not until next week so I will post his stats then.  We're also taking Jacob to his first Mardi Gras this weekend, so I will post all those cute pictures when we get back.  Until then...

Weekend Fun

We had such a great time enjoying the beautiful weather this past weekend!  We spent some time outside Saturday and went for a nice walk yesterday.  While lounging around Saturday, A and I got some really cute pictures of Jacob.

Happy Monday!

New Friends

I'm sure it will all change as soon as I say this, but life is getting pretty routine these days (which is great!)  Jacob has been on a schedule for quite a while now, but it seems like he is really starting to settle into it now.  He knows when it's time to eat, play, and nap.  He's always known when it's time to eat, but having him sure of his nap time is really helpful.  He's happier during playtime ...

...and he also sleeps better at night.  He's been sleeping through the night for a little over a month now, but I haven't been.  He doesn't wake up to eat during the night, but he usually fusses during the night, either because he's gotten himself in an uncomfortable position or because he wants his paci.  I can't complain, getting up for ten minutes is nothing like getting up for at least 45 minutes to feed him, so this was good enough for me.  Well, last night was even better.  We put Jacob to bed and did not hear a peep out of him until around 8:00 this morning.  He slept all night, really slept!  I couldn't believe it.  I think it is also helping that he has moved into his crib now.  Until about 2 weeks ago, he was sleeping in a cradle in our room.  He has much more room in the crib and he takes full advantage of that space!  Most nights, I put him down at one end of the crib and find him the next morning at the other end.  Several of these morning, he has also been rolled over on his tummy.  I have yet to see him roll over while he's awake, he tries really hard but just doesn't make it all the way over, but he's getting to be an expert in his sleep!

He's also getting to be pretty good at his tummy time mat.

And about that post title... Jacob is getting to be quite attached to his new friends. As you can see from these pictures, he has at least one of them with him almost all the time! I'm pretty sure the green elephant and the monkey are his favorites right now, but he's happy to play with any and all of them.

Happy Tuesday!

Snow Days

We've had more snow days this year than any year I can remember.  I can't believe how much snow Jacob has seen in such a short time compared to how much I have seen in my life time.  I wonder if it will still snow this much when he's old enough to enjoy it?!  With all this cold weather, we've all had a lot of time indoors together.  We've been trying to show Jacob the snow, and I think A finally succeeded.

Oscar has also been inside so much more than normal.  I guess all this time inside has finally sparked his curiosity about Jacob.  He normally just sits and looks at Jacob, but doesn't get too close.  Well, that has changed.  He now sits right beside him and tries to share his toys.  One night, while playing with Jacob on the couch, Oscar got a little too impatient for some attention.  He jumped up and laid down right beside him.  Jacob got really excited and started kicking and grabbing Oscar's hair.  Oscar tolerated this for a few minutes, but once he had enough, he rolled over right against Jacob's arm so that he could grab him anymore.  I know it's probably not as funny in writing, but it was really entertaining in person!

And I just had to include this adorable picture of Jacob and his elephant (I think it's about time that elephant got a name...).  He loves to hug it now and will hold it for a long time.  He's even gone to sleep with it a few times.

Happy Monday Everyone!

Play Time

Jacob loves his playmat these days and I finally got some cute pictures of him enjoying it!

The playmat has a really cute bug that hangs down in the middle.  Jacob loves to talk to him.

Pulling the blue ring makes the bug play music.  Jacob is so excited when he can pull it!

Sometimes, Oscar joins him for a little play time.

He hasn't quite figured out how to roll over, but he can definitely rotate himself around clockwise.  This also makes it easier to pull on some toys while kicking others.

He really gets worn out after a long morning of playing!

In case all the pictures aren't enough, I have a video too.  It's kinda long, but so cute!

Happy Thursday!

Three months (and a few days)

Three months is a lot of fun so far.  Jacob is smiling and laughing and cooing and just loving everything.  His favorite thing to do is lay on his back and kick his legs as hard as he can.  He loves his swing and his playmat, his blue elephant and Oscar.  It is so funny when he sees Oscar - his eyes get really big and he just watches his as long as he can. In the past few weeks, Jacob has discovered his feet. He's not good at reaching them, but he loves to watch them move. He really loves hanging out with the baby in the mirror.  He will talk to himself and just watch his movements as long as we will hold him in front of the mirror; it's too cute!

Jacob is still sleeping for at least 8 hours at night, and sometimes close to 10, with the exception of just a few nights that I attribute to the early stages of teething.  So far, this is the only not so fun part of three months.  He's only had a few bad days so far and he seems to feel better today.  I hope it lasts!  He is still taking 5 bottles a day and growing at an amazing rate!  Last week, he was just over 12 pounds.

A and I had a little too much fun with the three month photo shoot, so here are a few pictures...

Isn't he adorable?!

Also, another of Jacob's favorite these days... no clothes! He looks serious in the picture, but he loves getting to sit around in just his diaper.
happy Tuesday!
