Oh So Thankful

Thanksgiving in McComb this year was so much fun.  Jacob had a blast spending time with family and being the complete center of attention.  He literally sat in the middle of the table at Thanksgiving and smiled and laughed at everyone watching him.  In his usual social manner, he spent time with everyone and loved them all.  He loved going exploring in the country and in Teddy Bear and Mia's house too.  He found lots of new toys, but I think the piano was probably his favorite!

I have to say, I was not looking forward to the drive at all, but Jacob did remarkably well.  He handled the 6 1/2 hours like a pro.  We were pretty busy while we were there, visiting friends and family, shopping, watching football, and eating of course!  Jacob did so well with it all.  I could tell he was a little disappointed to be back at home with only me to play with on Monday.  And now, for the pictures...

 Such a cutie!

Living several hours away from family, A and I do not take the time we get to spend together and all the help we get with Jacob for granted. For that, we are always thankful.

Lately...

we've been busy, as evident by my lack of blogging.  We have been at the library and playgroups and gymnastics and at the park.  Jacob has been so busy and he really seems to enjoy all the activities and seeing his friends.  He has been talking away and walking around furniture, but he hasn't gotten quite brave enough to let go and walk on his own just yet.  To add to his busy few weeks, Jacob spent last Saturday night with his Kay-Kay and Papa while A and I had a nice night away.  We really enjoyed a chance to get away and we were so glad to see Jacob Sunday afternoon!

I know that I only think life if busy now - the holidays will be here before I know it and we will be really busy then, traveling and attending events here as well.  I am really looking forward to it this year; I know Jacob will love seeing family and opening gifts.  I just hope our tree will survive!  He's so curious about everything; I can only imagine how far he will go to get to the ornaments!  I wonder what he will think about Santa...

One last thing, we had family and one year pictures last week.  Check out JHanley Photography (the link is the the blog list) to see a preview.  We love what we've seen so far!

Happy Tuesday!

12 Months

I know I'm a few days late on this one, but I've just had so much to post this week!  So, better late than never, right?!
At 12 months, Jacob...
  • stats - 30.25 inches (65%) and 21 lbs 15 oz (35%) - still tall and skinny
  • 6 teeth, with 2 more on the way
  • eats 3 (big) meals a day and has several snacks - this kid has an appetite!
  • takes his sippy cup with milk all day
  • only gets one bottle at bedtime, which we will be stopping soon (wish us luck with that!)
  • wears 12 months clothes
  • hates socks and shoes and takes them off whenever he has a chance
  • sleeps for about 12 hours at night and about 3 during the day - (we're pretty lucky with that!)
  • pulls up and walks around anything he can, but isn't brave enough to let go just yet
  • climbs on everything!
  • loves his bath and rubber duckies - every time he goes into the bathroom he looks for them and calls out "duck!"
  • still loves Oscar and follows his around
  • feeds himself with a spoon some, but it can get a little messy
  • loves to brush his own teeth (see below)

And finally, the 12 month pictures!  We had a pretty tough time with this one, so you get several instead of just one!

Happy Wednesday!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween has been so much fun for Jacob this year!  We went to a few trunk or treats over the weekend, but we couldn't deprive Jacob of his first trick or treating experience.  His friends Maddy and Lylah came over and we all went around the neighborhood together.  I'm not sure if they knew what was going on, but they loved seeing each other in costume and getting candy at each house.  Jacob also enjoyed throwing the candy out of his bag into the street, so I'm sure someone enjoyed finding the extra candy he left behind!

Jacob also had a lot of fun going to the door with us for all the trick or treaters that came by.  He just stared at everyone in their costumes and laughed at a few.  He was also pretty fascinated by our pumpkins.  We finally lit them last night - better late than never I guess!

 Happy Halloween!
