11 Months

Before I get into the monthly update, did you notice the new pictures? Pretty cute, huh? and how about the new address?  Yep.  You can now go to http://www.justacoupleofgypsies.com/.  Same ole blog, new way to get here.

So, back to the important stuff.  11 months.  Wow.  The party planning is in full swing now and the to-do list is growing by the minute!

At 11 months, Jacob:
  • still wears 9 month pants and shirts, 12 month onesies and pajamas
  • takes 4 bottles a day, but less formula in each bottle
  • eats a little better, but still depending on baby food for most of his nutrition
  • has 5 teeth, 3 on bottom and 2 on top
  • sleeps well at night and napping well at home - the daycare is still a different story!
  • pulls up everywhere and tries to stand up all on this own
  • climbs on everything!  the child is too tall and too smart to be contained.
  • talks all the time!
  • loves his yellow duckie and takes it with him everywhere.  We're pretty sure he says 'duck.'
  • loves to play, with Oscar, his friends, he doesn't really care who, just as long as someone plays with him
  • still isn't shy. At all.  He goes up to at least one random stranger a week and tries to get them to pick him up.  Gotta keep a close eye on this one.
  • waves and says 'bye-bye' when he wants to.  And stares at you like you are crazy when he doesn't.
  • does not like for his toys to be put away.  He needs everything spread out so that he can see it and will scream when you put it up, even if he hasn't played with it for hours.  (I might have an idea where he gets that, considering I live with another person who needs to 'see' everything, just to know where it is!)
This might have been the post difficult picture yet.  It took multiple tries to get this, and it's not the best.

Happy Friday!

Weekend Update

This past weekend was quite a busy one.  Jacob had two birthday parties to attend on Saturday, so I'm sure he thought that was the best day ever.  He played and ate cake (the only thing he would eat that day!) and watched both his friends open presents.  He seemed to really enjoy himself; I just hope he will have fun at his own!  A got back Saturday afternoon, and that added even more excitement to Jacob's day.  He played so hard Saturday, he was exhausted well before bedtime!  Sunday included church and then a mommy and me family tailgate at the park.  We had snacks and played.  Jacob seemed to really enjoy that too.

As I'm sure I've already told you, we've been having trouble getting Jacob to eat 'table food.'  He only wants baby food or puffs or something like that, no real food except maybe cake or ice cream and other healthy things like that.  We've tried to give him bites of almost everything we've eaten for the past month or so, and most of it gets spit right back out.  Well, last night we found something he really likes.  Biscuits.  I had no idea one biscuit could make such a mess!  At least he ate (most of) it!

And, just to add to the list of things Jacob shouldn't-be-able-to-but-has-learned-to-escape-from:
1) his walker - no longer a safe place for him to hang out while I cook dinner and I'm assuming it means he could escape his baby Einstein tank too
2) the shopping cart at Kroger - makes waiting in line even more unpleasant, now he not only whines and fusses, but also stands up and tries to climb into the back of the cart or just out and down to the floor.  Not smart or safe. At all.

Happy Tuesday!

what Jacob has learned this week

Just to update on the past week of our lives - it's been pretty relaxed.  No stomach viruses, no major events at all.  Our weekend consisted of a birthday party, some errands, church, a visit from Lauren (so glad to see her!) and football.  I have to say, we all three enjoyed it!  I'm hoping next weekend will be more of the same, but the week in between in turning out to be quite busy.  I had a Maumelle Mommy and Me function last night (so much fun!) and I have another event on Wednesday night.  A will be leaving Thursday morning for a work retreat in Pickwick, poor guy ;) and won't be home until Saturday morning.  Yes, that means I will get to spend Thursday and Friday all by my lonesome, with Jacob.  Say a prayer that I can get both of us out the door before the day-care and my office close for the day!

Back to the title - what Jacob has learned this week - he has learned to be quite the little Houdini.  He can somehow get himself out of the high chair and climb up and stand on the tray.  Not a good idea.  He can also get himself out of the stroller straps and try to stand up while we're walking down the street.  Also, not a good idea.  And I was informed yesterday, that he tried to climb a whole stack of stackable high chairs at day-care.  Not a good idea at all.  My child has no fear.  Of anything.  I am not quite sure what to do about this one.  If I keep stopping him, he will never know to be afraid of diving head first from his high chair tray to the kitchen floor, but I can't let him get hurt!  I'm hoping he develops a moderate fear of heights soon.

And of course, I can't post without pics.

This is how he woke up Sunday morning.
Happy Tuesday!

Labor Day Weekend

I'm a little behind in posting, apparently rejoining the working world is interfering with it!  Speaking of, I am so relieved how well Jacob has adjusted to daycare.  He doesn't mind going in the morning and doesn't even notice when I come in to pick him up some afternoons.  If only he would nap while he is there...

Ok, Labor Day Weekend.  Kay-Kay and Papa came to visit and, of course, Jacob had a great time.  We worked on a few projects around the house and did a little shopping, but other than that, we just enjoyed the weekend.  We had a day trip planned, but A got a stomach bug, which he so kindly passed on to me last weekend, so that trip was postponed.  And what would a weekend visit from the grandparents be without lots of cute pictures?!

My parents brought my old rocking horse for Jacob - he loved it!

I love this picture!

Almost as much as this one!

Having a snack with Kay-Kay

Amazed by the things he found in the yard

 Enjoying the beautiful day

I promise to try not to let working make me so late with posting in the future! Have a great day!

Happy Friday

We were all so excited to watch the first Mississippi State football game last night - and even more excited that they won!  I'm pretty sure Jacob's favorite part was getting to play with the cowbell.  He loved to hear us ring it, but was very interested in how it worked when he finally got his hands on it.
Happy Friday!
