Beach trip
I've been slacking on blogging, but I've been busy. I spent the first part of last week packing, planning and getting ready and then we spent 5 days at the beach! We went with my parents and A's family and had the best time.
Just a quick overview of the trip...
We arrived Thursday afternoon and unpacked and settled in. Thursday night wasn't very eventful; just getting ready to start the day Friday. Friday was a great day! Jacob had his first trip to the beach and the pool. He had so much fun! He loved the salt water, but didn't enjoy his first bite of sand quite as much!
After lunch, A and his dad had a golf tournament to get to, so we all went to the pool and then dinner at the Crab Trap. Dinner was great and we got a few pictures on the beach while we were there.
Sunday was back to the beach. Jacob loved it just as much as the first time, and I guess it tired him out again. He really enjoyed his naps on the beach!
Sunday evening we went to get some beach pictures before we left for dinner. I love how these turned out!

Getting ready for the beach
Loving the water
He needed a quick nap
Jacob loved eating lemons!
Could he look any more like his Daddy?
Saturday we went shopping for the day and then to Baytowne Wharf for dinner. We had a wonderful dinner at Acme Oyster House and Jacob loved watching all the people walk by. And again, we got some cute pictures!

We went to Mitchell's Seafood Company for dinner Sunday night. It was my first time there, and the food was wonderful! We packed up Monday morning and started back home. A, Jacob, and I spent Monday night at my parents and drove home Tuesday morning.
Needless to say, I was not thrilled to return home to the heat and humidity and to-do list that comes along with getting home from vacation, but Jacob seemed really happy to see his bed! He stayed in his routine pretty well while we were gone, but he didn't sleep as well as he sleeps at home. I'm sure it had a lot to do with sleeping in a pack and play, but I think it was also because Jacob got his first tooth in Florida! It's not all the way there yet, but it's completely broken through his gum. Surprisingly, Jacob didn't fuss too much about it. I'll try to get a good picture to post.
I think this might be my longest post yet, so if you've made it this far, thanks!
Have a great day!

7 months
Jacob has been so much fun the past few months! He is really learning a lot and doing something new almost every day. He can sit on his own for as long as he wants. He's not crawling yet, but he can army crawl almost anywhere he wants to go. He can stand for a while if he's holding our hands or furniture and he will take a few steps with you. His walker is his favorite and he is dangerous in that thing! He will run into furniture and over your feet as fast as he can. Oscar has quickly learned to hide from him!
Jacob could not be more curious about everything these days! He wants to get his hands on anything he can and then immediately put it in his mouth. He smiles and laughs all the time and is not shy at all. Everyone that speaks to him or smiles at him gets a big smile and sometimes a "hi." So far, Jacob has said "hi," "good," "mama," "dada," "baba," "papi" (I'm pretty sure it's his word for his pacifier), and occasionally "Oda" when yelling at Oscar. Most of the time he still just babbles, but every now and then he'll say one of these semi-recognizable words.
Our daily routine is not a problem anymore. He knows when it is time to eat and time to sleep and he will let you know if you forget! He is eating three meals a day now and taking four bottles. He sleeps about 11 hours at night and at least two, sometimes three during the day. He usually only takes one nap, but will sometimes take a late afternoon nap if we've had a busy day.
We've been finding lots of things to do now that he really enjoys getting out and interacting with other babies. We still go to playgroup once a week and he loves it! He loves playing with the other babies and usually gets a little cranky when we leave. We also go to stroller club most weeks and walk with other mommies and babies for about 30-45 minutes. I think his new favorite thing is story time at the library. The lady who runs it does a great job and he smiles and laughs during all the songs and stories. He also has a great time in the church nursery. One of his friends of play group is usually there and it is amazing to me how quickly he recognizes her. He will look around the whole room and smile when he sees her. The nursery workers tell us how well they play together too!
