So, just to update on everything...
I went to my 36 week check-up yesterday. Before pregnancy, I, like most people I'm sure, thought that pregnancy lasted 9 months. Haha, yeah. As I am sitting here officially 9 months pregnant with 4 weeks to go, I now know that's not the case. However, the doctor did say that everything was still going great and right on schedule. She said that Baby T is now engaged (I could have told her that!) and causing all my hip pain. She also said that I'm 1 cm dilated. I don't think that's anything to get very excited about yet, but at least we are on the way.
The countdown is under a month now and getting into an imaginable amount of days. Needless to say, A and I are starting to get pretty nervous. I am surprised, however, at the new motivation he seems to have found. He has been helping me finish everything up around the house and even suggesting things that need to be done. I am quite impressed with his sudden interest in being prepared. Anyone that knows A knows that prepared is not always the word you would use to describe him, so this is definitely a nice new characteristic. I wonder if this will last into fatherhood or if he is just nesting?
We went to our last childbirth class last night. No videos and more massage, so I say it was a great class. During class last night, while going over the information, music would randomly start playing. The music was supposed to represent a contraction and the husbands were supposed to massage the wives' backs while it played. This was quite entertaining, as the massage tools included tennis balls and rolling pins. The music also progressed in intensity to represent the growing intensity of contractions. We started with instrumental music from Titanic and went all the way to the theme song from Caddyshack. Needless to say, we were laughing a lot more during the 'contractions' than I think we will in real life. Not sure if we'll be packing a rolling pin in the hospital bag either!
My parents came to visit last weekend. They brought us more clothes for Baby T, of course! I'm not sure if it's possible, but I think they are trying to spoil him before he is even born. We relaxed and just enjoyed the company. We stayed around the house most of the day Saturday and went to lunch Sunday for my daddy's birthday. It's crazy to think the next time we see them, and A's parents, will probably be when Baby T arrives.
All that aside, life if pretty boring at the Tullos house. We've just been staying in and trying to keep up with our DVR. I love when all the shows come back in the fall, but we apparently watch way too many now. There are several nights a week that our DVR is overbooked. That's ok though; I'm sure we won't mind a surplus after Baby T arrives - if we can stay awake to watch it all!
I hope everyone is having a great week!
